Focus on sustainability
The Sustainability District was one of the main highlights of the 2025 edition of SIGEP WORLD - The World Expo for Foodservice Excellence.
This special space, located in Pavilion B1, was entirely dedicated to promoting sustainable practices along the coffee and cocoa supply chains, creating a direct bridge between conscious consumers and sustainable producers.
The presence of origin countries such as Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Haiti, Colombia, Ecuador, Perù, Venezuela, Kenya, Etiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, and Costa d'Avorio further enriched the initiative. It provided a unique opportunity to highlight the origins of coffee and cocoa, promote sustainable agricultural practices, build ethical relationships along the supply chain, and raise awareness among industry professionals.
The project also featured a dedicated area for BioCubaCafè, an initiative focused on importing Cuban coffee and developing organic coffee production in Cuba.
The area hosted a central arena with a rich program of talks and panel discussions, where internationally renowned experts explored the theme of sustainability in all its facets, offering valuable insights and innovative perspectives to attendees.
The on-site projects
Micro Roaster Village
A journey to discover the excellence of specialty coffee.
In this corner of the Sustainability District, micro-roasters showcased their unique blends, the result of a deep passion for coffee and meticulous processing.
The area provided visitors with the opportunity to explore the latest trends in coffee sourcing, handling, roasting, preparation, and distribution, as well as to taste high-quality coffee, experiencing firsthand the artistry and innovation behind every cup.
Bean To Bar
Within the Sustainability District, a special area was dedicated to Bean to Bar, a space designed to reveal the chocolate production process, from the cocoa bean to the final product. A place where craftsmanship transforms chocolate into pure excellence.
The area is realised in collaboration with Guido Castagna, a famous chocolate roaster.
Within this space, visitors were able to immerse themselves in the world of technology related to artisanal chocolate.
Fully Automatic Coffee Machines
The Sustainability District showcased a selection of fully-automatic coffee machines that represent the future of coffee preparation in the name of sustainability.
These state-of-the-art machines combine advanced technology and intuitive design to ensure a flawless and customised coffee experience, and are designed to automate every step of the coffee preparation process, from grinding the beans and adjusting the temperature to creating the perfect froth for cappuccinos and lattes.
Thanks to intelligent energy management systems and waste reduction, they help minimise environmental impact while ensuring excellent coffee quality.
