EVENTO
More than 5,000 years ago, where Ecuador is located today, the use and consumption of cocoa originated and has been an important product in the country's economy ever since. Cacao partly financed the independence process, the early years of the republic and also the European training of the professionals of the time (1770-1842). The Cacao Libre de Deforestación project, financed by the Fondo Italo-Ecuadoriano per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile and implemented by CEDERENA, works with more than 2,000 families in five associations on the Ecuadorian coast and in the Amazon. The project prepares these associations for compliance with the new EUDR; and works on improving organisational, administrative, production, post-harvest, processing and marketing processes for cocoa and its derivatives.
