SIGEP 2025 consolidates its role as an incubator for the Foodservice market by reconfirming the Start-Up and Innovation area, with the aim of creating new business opportunities and encouraging dialogue between the world of companies and young entrepreneurs.

An exhibition area, both physical and virtual, entirely reserved for innovative Start-Ups and young Italian companies offering technologies and new solutions, raw materials, ingredients, machinery and packaging in the artisanal ice-cream, pastry, coffee, chocolate, bakery and pizza sectors.

The initiative, part of a broader project that includes the Innovation District with conferences and awards for innovative projects at the exhibition, is organised by Italian Exhibition Group and has ANGI, the National Association of Young Innovators, as its main partner.


Start-ups registered in the Companies' Register in the special section of Innovative Start-Ups (cf. Law no. 221 of 18 December 2012) that meet the following minimum requirements may apply for the initiative:

  • development projects consistent with the theme of the Sigep event in the sectors of gelato, pastry, coffee, chocolate, pizza and development technologies;
  • Have already completed at least the seed round or, alternatively, be active on the B2B market and have a portfolio of customers;
  • have a website.
  • To offer new business access to a prestigious national and international stage where to create exchanges and share ideas: the perfect environment in which tradition and innovation meet
  • To create meeting opportunities between the companies present at the event and the Start-Ups that can encourage product and/or service innovation
  • To encourage the identification of the Italian innovative system as a primary interlocutor in the development of products in the sector at national and international level

Applications received with the requirements set out in the previous point will be evaluated by a committee, awarding a score for each of the following elements

  •  innovative content of the product or service (1-10)
  •  collaborations and partnerships (1-5)
  •  product or service already industrialised and ready for the market (1-10)
  •  consistency with the sectors of the Sigep event (1-10)

Without prejudice to the fulfilment of the requirements indicated above, only the first 30 Start-Ups that obtain the highest score on the basis of the evaluation carried out according to the criteria indicated in this expression of interest will be selected.

Selected Start-Ups will be able to enter the project and compete for the Start-up prize upon payment of the €800 registration fee.

The Start-up area will be set up with an exhibition project designed to enhance interaction with the public and generate business opportunities.

The services offered are:

    participation in the event, both physical and digital
    registration in the exhibition catalogue;
    visibility on a dedicated web page on the Sigep website;
    desk in the Start-Up area complete with stool and graphics;
    access to the Business Meeting platform to book one-to-one meetings;
    1 free outdoor parking card;
    4 accreditations for stand staff;
    20 complimentary daily invitation tickets;
    access info point for reception and to provide information on the Start-Ups in the area;
    national and international media coverage and promotion services.

Excluding out-of-pocket expenses (travel, accommodation, transport, etc.), which shall be borne by the participants.

Start-ups meeting the requirements set out in the previous points may send their expression of interest, no later than the deadline below, by filling in the application form, as well as providing consent to the processing of the data contained in the expression of interest.

Expressions of interest must be sent no later than Sunday 27 October 2024 according to the procedure described above.

Once the Italian Exhibition Group has carried out the formal checks on the applications and acquired the qualitative assessments of the evaluation committee, it will proceed to select, in agreement with ANGI, the Start-Ups that will have access to the area.

Following the completion of the selection procedure, all parties that have submitted an application will receive, by 10 November 2024, a communication - to the e-mail address indicated when submitting the expression of interest - as to whether or not they have been selected for the initiative in question.

Within 2 working days of receipt of the aforesaid e-mail, the persons selected must notify Italian Exhibition Group of their definitive acceptance or withdrawal.

In the event of definitive acceptance, they must send the application form and form with the Start-Up's disclosure information.

In the event of withdrawal of one or more of the selected subjects, Italian Exhibition Group, again in agreement with ANGI, may proceed to select further eligible subjects according to the ranking list formed.
