We care about the planet!

The world is undergoing rapid change and we all need to work together to ensure that we make the best use of our natural resources.

We at SIGEP - Italian Exhibition Group have set this as our goal and work every day to protect the environment, reduce waste and optimise resources.

Our commitment to sustainability

IEG FOREVER GREEN

The Rimini fairgrounds were designed and are managed according to the principle of low environmental impact. They have received prestigious international recognition from ELCA in Nuremberg for “Green Building”, while IEG has ISO 14001 Environment and ISO 45001 Health and Safety in the Workplace certification.
Recently, IEG also received ISO 20121 certification.

GREEN AREAS

The fairgrounds’ 160,000 sqm outdoor area contains 1,500 plants and more than 30,000 sqm of lawn. In addition, the irrigation system only uses surface groundwater.

“ICE BANK”

Air conditioning is provided by an underground system that produces cold air at night and provides cooling during the day, reducing power consumption by 50%.

SUSTAINABLE SET-UP

Prostand, IEG’s stand fitters, has initiated a process to achieve sustainability and corporate transparency, involving the entire supply chain with: regeneration and reuse of materials, use of modular and foldable furniture, replacement of incandescent and fluorescent lamps with next-generation LED lamps, use of FSC- and PEFC-certified wood products and derivatives, low-resin paints, and carpeting in a 100% circular recycling system.

LOW-IMPACT CATERING

In its catering outlets, IEG company Summertrade uses compostable or washable crockery and detergents with a low environmental impact and chemical risk. In addition, by signing up to the “Food For Good” project, IEG is helping to combat food waste, having saved more than 30,000 meals since 2015.

“THE TASTE OF SOLIDARITY”

Thanks to the cooperation of exhibiting companies, unused foodstuffs are distributed to various local non-profit organisations.

Leftover ice cream is also donated by exhibitors and then sold to the public for a donation. The proceeds are used to purchase essential groceries for local families in need.
