SIGEP 2024 INVESTS IN YOUNG PEOPLE AMID TRAINING AND COMPETITIONS

° The Sigep Academy enhances young talents by promoting the encounter between school and the world of work
° National and international competitions for young people during the Italian Exhibition Group event at Rimini Expo Centre from 20th to 24th January

Rimini, 10th January 2024 . With even greater commitment, the 45th edition of Sigep - the Dolce World Expo (Rimini Expo Centre, 20th . 24th January 2024) supports training and the construction of professional growth paths for young people.
In this respect, the Italian Exhibition Group event has launched the planning of theoretical-practical courses thanks to the wide range of panels, events and national and international sector competitions, acting as an authoritative point of reference for new generations wishing to enhance their talents in the dolce foodservice sector.

SIGEP ACADEMY: A KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS COMPETITION INCUBATOR

The founding of Sigep Academy includes several branches for a complete offer that combines practical training and interaction with companies. Among these, Sigep Giovani, held in collaboration with Pasticceria Internazionale and with the involvement of exhibiting companies and Italian professional institutes, aims to offer students the chance to put the skills learned at school into practice. Sigep Giovani will launch several pastry challenges featuring 12 institutes with their own competition in the Pastry Arena. Sigep for Schools also comes under the ´Sigep Academy´ umbrella and is an initiative that offers practical and educational courses that will become veritable roadshow training to allow young people from hotel and catering schools and professional institutes to come into contact with the professionals from the dolce out-of-home sector.

 Junior Pastry World Cup
The world team competition in which under-23s will test their skills in the art of pastry making is back. This year´s theme on which the youngsters will be challenged is ´Myths and Legends´: through its creations, each team will be required to describe a legendary symbol of its own country, highlighting the culture and history. There will be six competitions: Artistic presentation in chocolate, Street food dessert from the team´s country of origin, Artistic presentation in sugar, Modern chocolate cake, Vegan sorbet glass, Plated coffee dessert. The competition will see the participation of competitors from Australia, Chile, the Philippines, France, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Malta, Peru, Taiwan, the USA and Uzbekistan.
The teams, composed of a team manager and 2 competitors, will compete under the expert eye of Iginio Massari as President of Honour, Roberto Rinaldini, President of the World Junior Pastry Championship and Eugenio Morrone, President of the Jury. The competition commission will consist of members of the AMPI-Academy of Italian Master Pastry Chefs and APEI-Italian Pastry Chef Ambassadors associations.

 Italian Junior Pastry Chef Championship
The Italian Junior Pastry Championship, promoted by Conpait and Cast Alimenti, is an annual event with a unique format aimed at young talents under 24 years of age. It is an opportunity to measure up against the world of pastry making in a competition that aims to highlight the ethical and professional principles of the pastry chef´s work, ensuring that young people, through the competition, develop a sense of belonging to the profession by bearing in mind fundamental key points such as goodness, quality, passion for the work, love of beauty, creativity, collaboration and respect. Eight contestants will be competing on the theme ´A Sustainable Future´ divided into three competition rounds: Artistic Presentation in Sugar, Pastry or Chocolate, Single-portion, and Chocolates.
 Young Ideas, the competition for young bakery talents
The Young Ideas competition for bakery talents from Italian hotel and catering schools and professional training institutions, organised in collaboration with Richemont Club International, will be held in the Bakery Arena. The competition will allow youngsters to compete and be judged by expert bakers, thus developing new skills through encounters with professionals and working with innovative technologies. The young bakery talents will be required to compete in 5 tests: Ciabatta Bread, A Bread of their Choice, Small Loaves, Viennese Pastries and an artistic piece on the theme ´Guglielmo Marconi: 150 years since his birth´.
